The HZI, Department of Structural Systems and Infection Biology is looking for a secretary.

As a member of the Helmholtz Association, the Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, based in Braunschweig, conducts cutting-edge research in the field of infectious diseases. Our scientists develop novel methods and strategies to fight infectious diseases faster and more effectively. Our common goal is to develop novel approaches for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. Our research centres on bacterial and viral pathogens, their interaction with the human immune system and new effective agents and vaccines.

In the Department of Structural Infection Biology at the Centre for Structural Systems and Infection Biology in Hamburg, molecular virulence mechanisms of human pathogenic bacteria are investigated using modern methods of structural biology. A comprehensive understanding of the infection process enables the future development of rational approaches and therapies against various bacterial diseases. The HZI-CSSB offers a unique research environment in the field of infection biology, a stimulating international scientific community and a modern workplace to acquire personal skills. Tasks

  • Supporting the department management and employees
  • Independent management and organisation of the secretariat
  • Support in writing scientific proposals
  • Scheduling and coordinating appointments
  • Correspondence in German and English
  • Ordering materials
  • Planning and booking business trips and preparing travel expense reports
  • Monitoring the department budget, employment contracts, purchases, etc.
  • Maintaining the department’s website
  • Supporting international students with the completion of formalities
  • Assisting with the organisation of internal and external meetings and events

Prerequisites

  • Completed vocational training in the commercial sector or comparable training with equivalent skills and experience
  • Excellent knowledge of office management
  • Very good written and spoken German and English language skills
  • IT skills, in particular MS Office programmes and Adobe Acrobat
  • Independent and well-organised way of working
  • Friendly and service-orientated appearance in an intercultural environment
  • Ability to work in a team and co-operate

Working hours

19,5 hours per week
