PhD candidate (f/m/x) - Interphase between epigenetics and cellular metabolism
Join the Institute of Functional Epigenetics (IFE) at Helmholtz Munich to investigate how cellular metabolism influences epigenetic processes. The Schneider group seeks a motivated PhD candidate to work on the interphase between epigenetics and cellular metabolism.
Overview
The position is a three‑year PhD contract under the German Collective Wage Agreement for Public‑Sector Employees (EG 13 50%). Salary and social security benefits are based on the statutory agreement, with additional allowances possible under certain conditions.
Responsibilities
- Implement a combination of in vitro and in vivo approaches, including Omics techniques, cellular editing, and metabolic challenges.
- Use state‑of‑the‑art methods such as single‑cell sequencing, live‑cell imaging, and chromatin biochemistry to investigate epigenetic regulation.
- Collaborate within the interdisciplinary team and the broader epigenetics, chromatin, and metabolic health community at Helmholtz and Munich.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in biology or a related field.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Chromatin biochemistry
- ChIP‑seq and RNA‑seq techniques, including data analysis
- Cellular metabolism
- Mammalian tissue culture and cell manipulation
- Fluency in English (knowledge of German is not required).
