DevOps-Specialist (f/m/d) in Biological Structure Research

Welcome to the future of biological structure research! We are looking for a passionate DevOps-Specialist to take our highly automated experimental stations to the next level. As part of our dynamic team, you will be responsible for the administration of workstations and servers, tinker with the development of the experiment control software and juggle data management tasks for the experimental facilities. Your experience and commitment will play a decisive role in ensuring reliable operation and progressive automation of the measuring stations.

The Macromolecular Crystallography group at HZB develops and operates three modern beam lines for biological structure research at BESSY II. The experimental stations are regularly used by a large number of researchers from German and European countries. They represent important infrastructure for the aforementioned area of biological structure research.

Your Tasks

  • You work in an interdisciplinary working group as a technical expert and developer of experimental stations and the IT infrastructure for these stations.
  • You are involved in international software collaborations.
  • You contribute to the efficient management of the collected research data.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s, master’s degree or diploma in computer science/technical computer science or a related field.
  • Sound knowledge of the administration of workstations and servers (Linux, MacOS) as well as script programming.
  • Programming skills for graphical user interfaces and/or device controls, preferably in Python, JavaScript and C++.
  • Knowledge of database systems.
