Summary : For the “Optronical Sights” development department, we are looking for a “Systems Engineer with a focus on optics (f/m/d)” at the Wetzlar site as soon as possible. Within the “Engineering Sights” development department, various disciplines such as software, optics, electronics and mechanics are combined to develop high-quality, hand-held optronic vision systems.

Your Tasks

• Technical management of the product development team in the field of optics
• Holistic support of optical components, assemblies and systems within the scope of the development order as well as definition and coordination of requirements for assemblies and systems
• Developing technical concepts, system architectures, specifications and interface requirements in the field of optics for new products together with customers, development partners and internal stakeholders
• Independent calculation and optimization of optics, e.g. for riflescopes, binoculars, periscopes, CCD, residual light cameras, laser rangefinders, IR optics for thermal imaging devices and other optical and optronic devices
• Conception and implementation of optical measurements in the test laboratory
• Participation in the conceptual development of measurement and special equipment
• Participation in project planning and requirements engineering
• Compliance with a high standard of formal requirements, e.g. design documents, test report documentation, change management
• Coordinating and specifying measures and proposals to achieve development goals
• Technical support for development activities for new products, test facilities and maintenance activities for existing products
• Technical representation vis-à-vis internal and external partners and customers
• Preparation of technical market analyses and customer requirements

Your Profile

• Degree in engineering or natural sciences, for example with a focus on physics or optics or similar
• Many years of experience in a comparable environment, preferably with imaging or camera-based systems
• Several years of experience in designing optical layouts
• Experience in working with SAP is advantageous
• Knowledge in the field of optical measurement technology
• Sound understanding of optics, electronics and software
• Very good cooperation, presentation and persuasion skills
• Very good analytical skills and high quality awareness
• Ability to work in a team, initiative and a high sense of responsibility
• Very good German and good English skills
