Why not come join us?The School of Engineering at the Energypolis campus invites applications for the following position within the Institute of Systems Engineering:Postdoctoral Researcher in AI/ML-driven LC-MS (80%)The Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics group at HES-SO Valais-Wallis is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher with expertise in liquid chromatography high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS), proteomics and biotherapeutic analysis. The successful candidate will combine hands-on Orbitrap-based analysis with active participation in the development of AI/ML-assisted data processing, working in a multidisciplinary team of scientists, engineers and industry partners.Responsibilities:- Operate and maintain the LC-Orbitrap system, including setup and routine troubleshooting.- Develop and execute protocols for intact-mass and peptide-mapping analysis of monoclonal antibodies and biopharmaceuticals.- Perform data acquisition, processing, and reporting, including method development (MAM) and validation.- Analyze host cell protein (HCP) data.- Collaborate with software engineers to design, test and implement AI/ML algorithms for LC-HRMS data analysis.- Collaborate with industry partners to translate research methods into industrial workflows.- Contribute to manuscripts, project reports and scientific presentations.Selection criteria:- PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related field.- Proven hands-on experience with LC-HRMS, specifically Orbitrap mass spectrometers.- Experience with protein/biopharmaceutical sample preparation and LC-MS analysis.- Working proficiency in at least one scripting language (R, Python or similar) for data handling and analysis.- Assets include: experience with antibody characterization; familiarity with MAM and HCP analysis; experience applying AI/ML to analytical chemistry; experience with nano/micro LC and microfluidics.- Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is required; French and German language skills are a plus.We offer:- Applied research addressing real-world challenges in AI/ML and proteomics.- Collaboration with expert scientists, engineers and industry partners to develop mass spectrometry methods and tools.- Excellent teaching and research facilities in a modern analytical chemistry environment, with the opportunity to develop teaching and student mentoring skills.- Position based in Sion, a picturesque town in the heart of the Alps and the sunny capital of Valais.Employment level: 80%Place of work: SionStarting date: November 2024 or upon agreementContract duration: 2 yearsFor further information please contact the professor in charge.
