Your tasks:

• Planning, preparation, implementation and supervision of various research projects in the field of measurement data acquisition systems
  • Creation and operation of data acquisition, analysis and storage systems for experiments at MAMI and MESA
• Personnel and technical management of the Institute\’s IT department, incl.
  • Planning and operation of the IT infrastructure
  • IT security responsibility
• Collaboration in research, e.g. conducting electron scattering experiments at A1 and MAGIX
• Independent teaching of IT in physics and physics in general

Your profile:

In addition to the general requirements according to public services law, applicants must meet the recruitment requirements stipulated in § 57 of the Hochschulgesetz of Rhineland-Palatinate.

• A successfully completed scientific university degree in physics or a related field
• A doctorate in a field relevant to the position
• Post-graduation full-time work experience of at least 2.5 years
• Very good knowledge of
  • scientific work in a research institute
  • IT (especially: data processing, distributed computing systems, network administration and technology, composition and function of operating systems (esp. Linux and Windows), complex program libraries, system programming, databases (Postgres), the C/C++, Python and JavaScript programming languages and LDAP user administration
  • IT and network security
  • Processing and presentation of complex information
• Specialized knowledge of Data acquisition and experiment control and the required digital electronics
• Experience in teaching preferably at an institution of higher education
• Experience in personnel management is an advantage
• Very good knowledge of German and English
• Excellent communication skills

The position is paid according to EG 14 TV-L and to be filled immediately. The position is permanent .
