Hexagon Robotics is a division of Hexagon – a global leader in precision measurement.
The division develops humanoid robots for industrial sectors to address labor shortages and accelerate the transition from automation to autonomy.
Our first humanoid, AEON, was launched in June 2025 and is already in pilots with five customers.
We are looking for a Staff Dev Ops Engineer to help evolve the platform that powers our robotics stack: from developer laptops through CI clusters to production robots.
In this role, you will make our infrastructure observable and dependable, drive engineering effectiveness across the company, and harden our CI/CD and build systems against outages and cost drift.
Observability is a central theme: we are expanding our use of Grafana and Prometheus and investing in the broader modern observability stack, and you will be a driving force behind that work.
Your Mission Own our observability stack end-to-end.
Grafana and Prometheus today, and the broader modern observability ecosystem (metrics, logs, traces, profiles) as it grows.
Design dashboards, alerting strategies, and SLO/SLI models that engineering teams actually rely on.
Harden CI/CD reliability at scale, modern test pyramid enforcement, artifact reuse, per-tier test jobs, hardware-in-the-loop coverage, and resilience against third-party provider outages (Nixbuild. net, Cachix, Artifactory, Git Lab).
Contribute to our Nix-based build infrastructure, cache topology (Cachix proxy, on-cluster caches, ccache backends), build reproducibility, and evaluation performance.
Drive engineering effectiveness through DORA / SPACE metrics, flaky-test dashboards, “infra vs. code” failure attribution, and a Grafana observability layer that the whole org can rely on.
Design and operate a resilient CI cluster: dedicated nodepools, isolation, I/O performance on AKS, and CI on edge hardware.
Act as a role model for clean software engineering processes.
Well-scoped merge requests, thoughtful reviews, sound testing habits, and clear technical writing that others can learn from.
Mentor Dev Ops engineers and functional-squad “Dev Ops champions,” and elevate Dev Ops thinking across teams so best practices become defaults rather than exceptions.
Your Skillset Familiarity with Nix / Nix OS in a production build system, including binary caches (Cachix, nixbuild. net) and Nix-based devshells.
Broader observability ecosystem experience e. g.
Loki, Tempo, Mimir, Influx DB, Open Telemetry, Pyroscope, e BPF-based tooling, or comparable stacks.
Familiarity with Git Ops (Argo CD or Flux).
Background in ROS 2, C++ / CMake, or robotics build systems.
Experience with hardware-in-the-loop test infrastructure and fleet management (Ansible or equivalent) for edge devices such as Jetsons.
Exposure to DORA / SPACE metrics programs and engineering-effectiveness tooling.
What Defines You Pragmatic, structured, and execution-focused: you design, decide, and adapt quickly while keeping an eye on the second-order effects of platform choices.
A force multiplier: you make the engineers around you more effective, whether through mentoring, review, better tooling, or clear documentation.
A true team player who communicates crisply across boundaries with functional squads and engineering leadership.
Self-driven, solution-oriented, and comfortable owning ambiguous, cross-cutting problems end-to-end.
Curious mindset with a genuine appetite for diving deep into low-level infrastructure problems and pulling back out to the strategic view.
What You’ll Get Flexible working hours and a hybrid model for real work-life balance.
CHF 500 mobility credit for sustainable commuting.
