ph3Location /h3 pZurich, Zurich, CH /p h3About the Role /h3 pThe Engineering Construction (EC) portfolio at Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is managed globally by two Level 2 Portfolio Owners: one responsible for the Americas and one for the Rest of the World. Both roles report directly to the Global Head of Engineering Construction. As Portfolio Owner, Rest of World, you will shape and execute the global EC portfolio strategy. You will drive profitable growth, set strategic underwriting priorities, and work closely with Market Units across France, Germany/Austria, BeNeLux/Nordics, Italy, Switzerland, UK/Ireland, Australia/New Zealand and Asia. You will ensure a consistent underwriting approach while aligning local execution with global objectives and governance standards – making this a truly international and high‑impact leadership role. /p h3Key Responsibilities /h3 ul liRepresent Swiss Re Corporate Solutions at senior levels with key brokers, clients, and industry conferences, building and maintaining high‑value external relationships /li liCo‑define and execute the Global EC portfolio strategy and vision, with a clear focus on driving profitable and sustainable growth /li liDevelop and maintain portfolio plans – including business plans, growth targets, and capacity allocation – ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and risk appetite; track delivery against plan and adapt as market conditions evolve /li liMonitor and manage portfolio composition, performance trends, and exposure concentrations; propose and implement corrective actions where needed /li liAct as senior technical authority on complex underwriting decisions and emerging risk topics across the engineering and construction landscape /li liDrive the development of new solutions to address evolving client needs in the engineering, construction, and renewable energy sectors /li liPresent financials and strategic topics to senior management on a regular basis, communicating portfolio performance with clarity and confidence /li liEnsure adherence to underwriting standards, risk governance frameworks, and portfolio controls across all Market Units in scope /li /ul h3About the Team /h3 pYou’ll be joining an international core team with diverse technical backgrounds and a shared passion for engineering and construction risk. Market Unit Underwriters report into their respective regions, but you’ll work closely with colleagues across the global Engineering Construction and Renewable Energy community. /p h3About You /h3 pYou are an experienced engineering and construction professional who has successfully built a career in insurance leadership, combining deep technical knowledge with sharp commercial acumen. You are decisive, collaborative, and passionate about developing talent and fostering an inclusive team culture. You bring a strategic vision that is matched by your ability to execute, and you thrive in complex, international environments. /p h3Qualifications /h3 ul liUniversity degree in an engineering discipline (civil, mechanical, chemical, or process engineering) or comparable qualification, with a strong affinity for the engineering and construction industry /li liMinimum 10 years of engineering underwriting experience with a primary insurance or reinsurance company, including demonstrated expertise in complex risk assessment /li liFluency in English, with a strong command of international Engineering Construction policies, wordings, and contractual frameworks /li liStrong experience in data analytics and portfolio steering, with the ability to translate data insights into decisive strategic actions /li liProven commercial and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of engaging and influencing senior internal and external stakeholders in an international context /li liSignificant experience in underwriting Renewable Energy, with a strong preference for expertise in underwriting off‑shore Renewables /li /ul h3Nice to Haves /h3 ul liMBA or postgraduate degree in economics, finance, or business administration /li liBroad global network with corporate clients and brokers in the EC or renewable energy space /li liExperience working with international, cross‑functional teams and managing insurance portfolios /li /ul h3Hybrid Work Model /h3 pThe expectation is that you will work in the office at least three days per week. /p h3Salary and Benefits /h3 pFor Switzerland the annual base salary range for this position is between CHF 180 000 and CHF 270 000 for a full‑time role. The specific salary offered considers the requirements, scope, complexity and responsibilities of the role and the applicant’s own profile including education, qualifications, specialisation, skills and experience. In addition to the base salary, Swiss Re offers a performance‑based variable compensation component to recognise your achievements.
