Description

We are looking for a Senior Technical Leader / Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) for Energy to join our Joint FDE Team, a strategic One Hitachi initiative driving the deployment of Frontier and Physical AI in the Energy sector.

In this role, you will be embedded directly within Energy domain high-profile programs to accelerate enterprise AI adoption and software delivery.

Requirements

Requirements (Must-Have)

• Professional Experience: 15+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering, system architecture, product engineering, platform engineering, or solution architecture, with strong product-side delivery experience.
• Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of software architecture, SDLC, Agile/Scrum, DevSecOps, product lifecycles, and enterprise engineering practices.
• AI Technical Fluency: Hands-on mastery of AI development tools, IDE-based AI assistants, agentic workflows, and AI-enabled software delivery, with the ability to construct, evaluate, and explain working solutions.
• Communication & Collaboration: Excellent client-facing and consultative communication skills, with a proven ability to engage both operational engineering teams on the ground and executive-level stakeholders.
• Academic Background: Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

Preferences (Nice-to-Have)

• Modern AI Tooling & Frameworks: Experience with cutting-edge tools and developer environments such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, LangChain, AutoGen, LlamaIndex, Semantic Kernel, MCP, RAG, or vector databases.
• Energy Domain Context: Background in Energy, Smart Grid, Grid Automation, industrial IoT (IIoT), robotics, or asset inspections (drones, video analysis, etc.).
• AI Governance & Security: Strong understanding of responsible AI principles, human-in-the-loop controls, OT Security, and production readiness/observability for AI-enabled systems.

Job responsibilities

As an FDE in the Energy domain, you will:

• Accelerate AI Adoption: Embed directly with the client's engineering, product, and architecture teams to identify SDLC bottlenecks and implement AI-led acceleration.
• Build Intent-Driven Workflows: Drive the transition from traditional, manual ticket- and sprint-based software development to intent-driven delivery loops that automate plans, code generation, testing, documentation, and validation.
• Create Reusable Assets: Build, document, and curate a shared library of reusable AI assets (skills, agents, toolchains, and playbooks) to establish standard implementation methodologies.
• Measure Business Outcomes: Define, track, and optimize AI-acceleration metrics, targeting quantitative outcomes such as a 25% reduction in development cycle times and faster story-to-code conversion.
• Upskill Teams (Train-the-Trainer): Drive organizational sustainability by leading workshops and hands-on coaching to train internal champions and upskill operational engineers.
• Engage Stakeholders: Present technical approaches, reference architectures, proof of concepts, and business impact to both technical and executive audiences.
