Senior Technical Tendering Specialist – Substation Automation 80-100% (f/m/d)As a Senior Technical Tendering Specialist, you will play a key role in shaping the future of the energy transition by leading the technical bid preparation for some of our most strategic and complex opportunities within the Renewables and Offshore Business.In this role, you will drive the development of competitive and technically sound proposals for large-scale renewable, offshore wind, grid integration, and AC substation projects. Acting as a technical authority throughout the tendering process, you will collaborate with global cross-functional teams, manage technical risks, and help secure profitable business growth in a dynamic international environment.If you enjoy solving complex challenges, influencing key business decisions, and working on projects that contribute to a sustainable energy future, we would love to hear from you.How you'll make an impactLead technical tendering activities for large-scale, high-value, and strategically important opportunities within the Renewable and Offshore AC marketPrepare competitive and technically optimized system proposals, including solution design, cost estimation, and supplier quotation evaluationsDefine technical scope, identify project risks and opportunities, and support the development of winning bid strategiesCoordinate and drive internal tender reviews, risk assessments, and approval processes in alignment with company governance requirementsEnsure the delivery of high-quality, compliant, and competitive proposals within agreed timelinesAct as a technical advisor to Sales and Business Development teams during customer discussions and bid negotiationsCollaborate with engineering, project management, supply chain, and commercial teams to develop optimized customer solutionsEvaluate supplier and subcontractor offerings, ensuring alignment with technical specifications and project requirementsLead and coordinate global, multidisciplinary proposal teams across multiple locations and business unitsSupport the continuous improvement of tendering processes, tools, and best practices across the organizationMentor and support junior tendering professionals to strengthen organizational capabilities and knowledge sharingYour backgroundBachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, preferably with a focus on power systems or power engineeringMinimum 5 years of experience in project execution, engineering, system design, lead engineering, commissioning, or a comparable technical role within substation automation, protection, and control systemsIdeally 2+ years of experience in bid management, proposal engineering, tendering, sales support, or a customer-facing technical roleStrong understanding of substation automation, protection and control systems, and AC substation applicationsExperience working with complex customer specifications, contractual requirements, and technical risk assessmentsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environmentAbility to lead and influence cross-functional and virtual teams without direct reporting responsibilityStructured, proactive, and detail-oriented working styleProficiency in Microsoft Office and MS VisioWillingness to travel internationally up to approximately 10%Excellent communication skills in English; additional European language skills are considered an advantageMore about usAt Hitachi Energy, we are advancing a sustainable energy future for all.
