HARDWARE TEST ENGINEER (W/M/D)

Hitachi Rail in Austria supports international rail operators with signal technology expertise, ensuring safe and efficient transportation in Central and Eastern European markets.

In this role, you will plan and conduct hardware tests in EMV, environmental, and mechanical conditions. You will coordinate external partners, analyze results, and maintain thorough documentation, with a practical, versatile approach and room for creativity. If you enjoy responsibility and combining technical skills with a hands-on mentality, you will be a valuable addition to our team.

Responsibilities

1. Plan, define, and execute hardware tests for electromagnetic compatibility (EMV), environmental requirements (thermal, mechanical).
2. Support and coordinate external test partners and subcontractors (e.g., Bluetechnix, AIT, TGM).
3. Create test specifications and reports.
4. Set up and commission test objects in the testing facility.
5. Evaluate and compile external test results.

Qualifications

• Completed technical education (university, FH, HTL) or equivalent.
• Ideally 3 years of experience in a similar role.
• Knowledge of technical standards and norms (rail-specific standards a plus).
• Strong skills in measurement technology and process-oriented environments.
• Expertise in EMV at device and system levels.
• Understanding of thermal system behavior.
• Basic knowledge of Linux scripting.
• Independent, structured work style and solution-oriented thinking.
• Teamwork and strong communication skills.
