Role

Hive Robotics is building Europe's first full-stack orchestration platform for unmanned systems: connecting, controlling, and commanding multi-vendor drone and robot swarms. Our RF communication systems are Made in Germany, deployed on active frontlines, and targeting a highly valued tactical communication market with zero sovereign alternatives today.
As a working student in electronics hardware engineering, you support our hardware team across the full development cycle: from requirements and schematic capture through component selection, simulation, and prototype bring-up. You work on real boards and modules for products already in serial production and in the field, not just internal test setups.
This is a hands-on role at the boundary of design and validation, with room to take ownership of libraries, documentation, and testing as you grow into the team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop hardware designs from a set of requirements, from concept through schematic capture and implementation
  • Create and review schematics for new boards and hardware modules
  • Build and maintain component and part libraries, including footprints, symbols, and 3D models
  • Research and select components, evaluating datasheets, availability, and cost/performance trade-offs
  • Run simulations to validate circuit behavior, then support bring-up and testing of new prototypes and hardware revisions
  • Document hardware designs, libraries, and test results so findings are traceable and reproducible

Requirements

Must Have

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field
  • Solid understanding of analog and digital circuit design fundamentals
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools (e.g., Cadence Allegro, Altium Designer, KiCad, or Eagle)
  • Familiarity with reading datasheets and selecting components
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Available 20 hours per week
  • Fluent English
  • Onsite with us in Munich

Nice to Have

  • Experience with circuit simulation tools (e.g., LTspice, SPICE, PSpice)
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power supplies
  • Familiarity with communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, etc.)
  • Experience with hardware bring-up, debugging, or prototyping
  • Advanced/fluent German
