About the Role

The Electrical Engineering Team Lead is responsible for leading and managing an assigned design team.

This role plays a key part in ensuring design quality, technical accuracy, and the professional development of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Team, including workload planning, Team resourcing, and delivery performance.
  • Actively participate in document creation (drawings, calculations, studies, reports) relevant to the Project, ensuring proper inputs are acquired in a timely manner
  • Assign and coordinate design tasks to Electrical Engineers to ensure timely completion in line with project milestones.
  • Oversee and approve engineering drawings and documents prior to issue, ensuring compliance with project and industry standards.
  • Ensure strong collaboration with the Civil, Mechancial, and BIM teams to support coordinated, multi-disciplinary delivery.
  • Support the career development of the Team members, ensuring training needs are identified and CPD (Continued Professional Development) is actively maintained.
  • Organise and chair weekly design team meetings to track project progress and ensure alignment across the team.
  • Attend regular Engineering Leadership meetings and ensure effective communication of key updates and decisions back to your team.
  • Participate in quarterly Engineering Lead workshops, supporting lesson-learned reviews and sharing best practices with the wider engineering function.
  • Actively contribute to improving engineering processes and promoting a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Organise and chair regular Team meetings to provide high level updates to the Team and gather feedback on day‑to‑day Team operations
  • Organise regular one‑on‑one meetings with Team members and drive any generated actions

Key Requirements

  • Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering (Level 8 or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role with an HV contractor or utility.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Digi Silent, ETAP, EPLAN, PSCAD, Cymcap, Cableizer, and Auto CAD.

  • Proven people management skills with experience developing and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational ability.
