YOUR ROLE

You will be responsible for a practice-oriented teaching of Administrative and Business Informatics in the dual bachelor’s programmes Public Management and E-Government, as well as in the continuing education master’s programme in Public Management within the future Faculty of Management, Governance and Media. The teaching focus is on mapping IT requirements for administrative and business processes and developing digital applications and business models for public administration.

YOUR PROFILE

You have a university degree in Computer Science, Administrative or Business Informatics, Mathematics, or in Administrative, Economic, or Natural Sciences with clearly recognisable connections to informatics and administrative applications. Furthermore, you have demonstrated your academic research competence via a PhD in Computer Science, providing a strong connection to the relevant subject area and its applications in public administration.

Your professional experience of several years in business, industry, public sector, or non-profit organisations should be directly relevant to the subject areas of the professorship vacancy.

We expect a specialisation in software development, architectures of distributed IT applications, and IT management. We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate exceptional academic research ability and contribute significantly to the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods based on at least five years of professional experience, of which at least three years must have been gathered outside the university sector (pursuant to Art. 15 (1) No. 3 and 4 HmbHG).

Ideally, you can provide evidence of publications and relevant research activities in the subject areas covered by this position. Experience in teaching and development of higher education didactic concepts is also desirable.

In the degree programmes of the future Faculty of Management, Governance and Media, the focus is on developing practical competencies for public administration. Within the framework of the position, we expect willingness to cooperate with the cooperation partners, as well as interdisciplinary teamwork with other disciplines represented in the study programmes of the future faculty, and participation in the area of equality/diversity and in the university’s self-administration.

Furthermore, you should be willing to conduct lectures in English, provide electronic teaching materials, and use learning management systems, such as Moodle tools. You should also incorporate interactive teaching methods using video conferencing tools and other digital and blended learning approaches.

INFORMATION

For appointment as a professor, as well as the general staff requirements, the appointment requirements in accordance with Section 15 Para. 1-6 of the Hamburg Higher Education Act (HmbHG) also apply. These can be read on our website .

This includes the willingness to participate in the self-administration committees of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences as well as a choice of residence in proximity to the university.

The denomination of the vacant post is under the caveat of assessment at appropriate intervals in accordance with Section 12 Para 7 HmbHG.

As well as the basic salary of grade W2 and basic performance benefits, a provision of appointment performance benefits is also possible which can be negotiated with the university president. In addition, there is also the possibility of granting a bonus from third-party funds.

Candidates who have not yet reached the age of 50 at the time of appointment may be appointed as tenured officials, otherwise the employment relationship is that of a standard employee.
