Hogrefe is an internationally active media company specializing in the field of psychological diagnostics. With over 550 employees worldwide, we are the market leader in this area.

Our company, Hogrefe Digital Solutions GmbH, develops the Hogrefe Test System (HTS), a web platform for comprehensive psychological online assessments, and employs more than 50 people. Our assessment tools help, for example, in the early diagnosis of learning difficulties in children, are used in HR for aptitude diagnostics, or support individuals with mental health conditions on their path to recovery.

We are currently seeking support for one of our development teams, consisting of nine colleagues (Junior Engineers, Software Engineer, Lead Engineer). We are looking for a DevOps Engineer (m/f/d) to join the team immediately.

What will you be doing?

  • Be a champion of “Developer Experience”, embracing the power of automation while empowering Software Engineers with the tools and guidance to continuously improve productivity
  • Unleash your creativity to reduce the release cycle times of our platforms while improving the observability and robustness, relentlessly pushing our platform towards “Continuous Delivery”
  • Build efficient and reliable technical solutions, showcasing your creativity and problem-solving skills
  • Dive deep into troubleshooting, debugging, and deploying software versions, contributing to the smooth operation of our software ecosystem
  • Create system architectures and software designs, actively shaping the future of our applications
  • Coach and mentor colleagues within our company on industry best practices, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and growth.
  • Work in a collaborative environment with peer reviews of designs and solutions, actively sharing your knowledge while helping to continuously refine our collective work
  • In your work, you will interact with Puppet and Foreman for infrastructure management, GitHub for repositories and CI/CD, Gradle for builds, Docker for containerization, Datadog for monitoring, as well as a Java and MySQL-based backend

Who are you?

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or have comparable working experience
  • You have at least 3 years of experience working as a Software Engineer or DevOps Engineer
  • You are proficient in at least one programming language such as Java, Typescript, or Python
  • You have strong knowledge of building CI/CD pipelines with tools such as GitLab or Github
  • You are familiar with service orchestration and containerization utilizing Docker
  • You care holistically about software products, from development to operational excellence
  • You have experience working in an agile software development environment
  • You are able to troubleshoot and debug complex software issues and have excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • You have a strong sense of ownership, and are comfortable with ambiguity
  • You are a team-player and strong communicator, speaking and writing fluent English. German language knowledge is a plus
