We're looking for a Backend Engineer who enjoys building reliable backend systems and improving the platform they run on. You'll help shape the services, infrastructure, and engineering practices that power our product while working closely with the team to solve meaningful problems at scale. What you'll do
You'll own backend services end-to-end - from designing solutions and implementing features to operating and improving them in production. Your work will directly impact feature delivery speed, platform reliability, and the effectiveness of our software development processes. Your responsibilities
Build and maintain backend services and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript Take ownership of systems throughout their entire lifecycle - from requirements, design to production Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to turn ideas into scalable solutions Improve platform reliability, performance, and developer experience Contribute to architectural decisions, cloud infrastructure, and technical best practices Troubleshoot production issues, share knowledge through code reviews and collaboration, and help shape the future of Agentic Engineering at hokify What we're looking for
Proven experience building and operating backend applications in production environments Strong hands‑on expertise with Node.js and TypeScript Curiosity about how systems work beyond application code, including infrastructure, deployments, and reliability A strong sense of ownership and accountability, with a focus on delivering meaningful outcomes Pragmatic problem‑solving skills and a passion for continuous improvement Strong collaboration and communication skills Node.js & TypeScript MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch / OpenSearch AWS, Docker, ECS Microservices and REST APIs Monorepo with pnpm GitHub Actions and CI/CD Nice to have
Experience working with AWS or other cloud platforms Experience with platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure automation Experience operating distributed systems in production Experience with Elasticsearch / OpenSearch Experience using AI‑powered development tools German language skills or willingness to learn Make a real impact by building technology that improves hiring for job seekers and employers alike Own meaningful systems and see your impact in production Help shape our engineering culture, architecture, and technical direction Influence technical decisions and shape how we build software Move fast, ship often, and focus on solving problems instead of navigating bureaucracy Join a team of ambitious builders who value ownership, curiosity, and continuous improvement Use the newest technologies and re‑shape how recruiting software is built The salary is from EUR 56,000 gross/year.
