The product you will work on
HOLOPLOT develops loudspeaker systems that use 3D beamforming and wave field synthesis to control where sound is delivered with exceptional precision. At the core of every system is proprietary software that determines how each driver in an array must behave to create the intended sound field.
Our Research team advances both the software and the acoustic theory and modeling that underpin HOLOPLOT technology. As demand for innovation and product development grows, we are expanding the team to increase our capacity for research-led innovation. This role will help drive new product concepts, features, intellectual property, and the longer-term technical direction of our systems.
You’ll collaborate closely with our senior engineers while taking a leading role in HOLOPLOT’s core acoustic engine and the software and algorithmic work that shapes it. From the outset, you’ll contribute to internal tools, run and validate optimizations, and drive improvements with clear ownership, growing autonomy, and direct impact on our core systems' performance.
Main objectives of the role
Your role and responsibilities
-
Develop and maintain our proprietary beamforming and array optimization algorithms.
-
Develop and maintain our proprietary system design and configuration software.
-
Evaluate beam optimizations for products and customer projects, and validate results against simulations and measurements.
-
Design and implement linear (FIR/IIR) and frequency-domain DSP methods.
-
Develop non-linear DSP algorithms, such as peak/thermal limiters tailored for amplifier and driver protection.
-
Plan and run acoustic measurements to verify array modeling and feed data back into models.
-
Support sound system design work when projects need fine-tuning and optimization expertise.
-
Improve code quality, testing and automation, including using AI-assisted development tools.
-
Write clear technical reports and documentation so knowledge is shared across the team.
-
Contribute ideas to patent applications and research topics as you grow into the domain.
What you need to succeed in this role
-
Degree (MSc or PhD preferred) in acoustics, audio engineering, electrical engineering, physics or a related field.
-
Strong MATLAB skills for numerical simulation and optimization, with clean, maintainable code.
-
Solid grounding in audio DSP
-
Understanding of nonlinear signal-processing techniques and transducer modeling.
-
Working knowledge of array signal processing, beamforming or sound field control.
-
Understanding of general and room acoustics.
-
Ability to explain technical results clearly in writing and in conversation or presentation.
Nice to haves
-
Experience with numerical optimization methods.
-
Wave field synthesis, Ambisonics or other spatial audio techniques.
-
Acoustic simulation tools (EASE, BEM/FEM, or similar).
-
Python, version control and automated testing.
-
A professional audio or live sound background, plus strong critical listening skills.
-
Exposure to patent work or scientific publishing.
-
Hands-on experience with audio measurement systems (e.g. Klippel, Audio Precision, REW).

About us
HOLOPLOT is a pro audio company from Berlin, Germany. Since early 2011, we have been working on radically transforming audio technology, by re-thinking the underlying physics of sound reproduction. We wondered: What if sound could truly be controlled the way we can control light? What if we could create soundscapes that feel more real than reality? What if every seat in a venue could be made the best seat?
Our solution is science-based, software-driven, and hardware-enabled: the HOLOPLOT Matrix Array. The sound system for a new era, a powerful tool that brings previously inaccessible capabilities to the world of audio. We believe when people experience better sound, they will enjoy more meaningful moments and create richer memories. At HOLOPLOT, it is our mission to redefine what is possible - enabling unparalleled and breathtaking experiences.
A revolution in sound. Be part of it.
