Research Scientist in Machine Perception (80-100%) Responsibilities
Contribute to and lead research projects in sensing and machine perception for ABB’s businesses.
Develop novel high‑value sensing products and solutions from concept definition to experimental verification.
Evaluate new technologies and conduct technical surveys; generate project proposals with business impact.
Collaborate with researchers and engineers across research centres, ABB business units, and universities.
Disseminate results through scientific publications and internal technical reports; generate intellectual property.
Qualifications
PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
Strong background in machine perception and computer vision.
Expertise in machine learning, reinforcement learning, sensor fusion, or digital signal processing is an advantage.
Proficient in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C/C++) and familiarity with the Linux ecosystem.
Hands‑on experience with sensing hardware and software frameworks for cameras, LIDAR, or radar (e.g., OpenCV, ROS2) is a plus.
Proven publication track record at top scientific conferences and journals.
Team‑player attitude; willingness to learn new industrial applications and work on a broad range of technologies.
Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.
