Attorney-at-Law and/or Patent Attorney - Intellectual Property and Patent Litigation | Munich
We are working with a range of leading US, international, specialist IP and boutique law firms seeking to strengthen their Intellectual Property and Patent Litigation practices in Munich.
These firms advise global market leaders on complex patent and technology disputes across a wide range of industries. Their practices are particularly strong in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical-device sectors, as well as automotive engineering, aerospace, electronics, telecommunications, software and advanced manufacturing.
The opportunities cover the full lifecycle of patent law, including strategic portfolio development, patent prosecution, licensing and high-stakes cross-border litigation before German and international courts, patent offices and regulatory authorities.
Depending on your experience and the firm you join, your responsibilities may include:
- Preparing court filings, pleadings and other legal documentation
- Advising on opposition and grant proceedings before the European Patent Office and the German Patent and Trademark Office
- Supporting invalidity and enforcement proceedings before the Federal Patent Court, Federal Court of Justice and Unified Patent Court
- Assessing the patentability of innovative technologies and developing strategic IP-protection approaches
- Drafting and prosecuting patent applications and related submissions
- Supporting complex patent litigation and infringement matters, including evidence gathering and technical analysis
- Managing deadlines, coordinating filings and overseeing case documentation and patent portfolios
- Working closely with international colleagues and technical experts on multi-jurisdictional matters
Candidate profile
The firms are particularly interested in candidates with:
- Qualification as a German Attorney-at-Law and/or German or European Patent Attorney
- Experience in patent litigation, patent prosecution or broader intellectual property matters
- Strong analytical, drafting and client-management skills
- A collaborative and commercially minded approach to problem-solving
- Excellent German and English communication skills
- A degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, computer science or another relevant technical discipline is preferred for patent-attorney candidates
