The chair is based at the Department of Northern European Studies and represents the fullscopeofthefieldof themodern history, societal structuresandpresentpolitical developmentsof Northern Europe, inbothresearchandteaching, andinclose collaborationwiththeotherchairsatthe Departmentof Northern European Studies (Scandinavian Medieval Studies, Scandinavian Linguistics and Scandinavian Literatures) Thesuccessfulcandidateisexpectedtohaveaninternationallyrecognisedresearch profile, showingasolidpublicationrecord, talksandkeynotesatinternationalconferences, and a strong international network.
Responsibilities include teaching in all relevant study programmes (BA Scandinavian Studies, MA Scandinavian Studies, and academic governance.
The candidate is furthermore expected to participate in study programmes in the Historical and Social Sciences).
The position requires active involvement in promoting the department’s teaching and research profile, as well as a willingness to engage in inter- and transdisciplinary co-operation (including applications for external funding), within the faculty and with other relevant institutes, at both national and international level.
The applicants must meet the legal requirements for professorial appointments in conjunction with § 102a combinedwith§102cofthe‘Berliner Hochschulgesetz’.
