The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within Huawei's Ohm Research Center (Nuremberg) is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.
Principal/Senior Engineer - MV DC-DC Power Conversion (m/f/d)
Your mission
- Technology Planning: Align with industry trends and customer demands across data centers, PV, energy storage, and EV charging sectors to formulate technical roadmaps for the DC-DC power conversion subsystem within 10kV–35kV medium-voltage direct-connected Solid-State Transformers (SST), ensuring superior competitiveness of product solutions.
- Core Technology R&D: Lead the architecture design, simulation modeling, and key component design of medium-voltage high-power isolated DC-DC converters (topologies including DAB, LLC, CLLC), and take full accountability for the competitiveness of R&D deliverables. Lead the design of Medium-Frequency Transformers (MFT), and tackle technical challenges such as insulation design under medium-voltage high-frequency operating conditions, partial discharge (PD) suppression, and thermal management under complex working conditions.
- Technology Insight & Collaboration: Track cutting-edge technologies of medium-voltage high-power isolated DC-DC converters to identify innovation opportunities; cooperate with top industrial research institutes and universities to incubate new technologies and facilitate technology transfer and mass deployment.
- Technical Support for Key Projects: Provide end-to-end technical support for frontline sales in strategic project development, prototype testing, and on-site technical consultation to drive successful closure of key customer projects.
Your areas of expertise
- Professional Expertise: Seasoned specialist in Solid-State Transformers (SST) and medium-voltage high-power isolated DC-DC conversion. Proficient in topologies including DAB, LLC and CLLC as well as their control schemes; well-versed in Medium-Frequency Transformer (MFT) design, high-voltage high-frequency insulation and partial discharge suppression. In-depth research and hands‑on development experience in high-voltage SiC device application, gate driver design, and series voltage balancing control.
- Core Business Competency: Skilled in the full hardware development workflow for medium-voltage high-power converters with proven project management capabilities.
- Simulation Tools Proficiency: Expertise in PLECS simulation software; capable of conducting electric field and magnetic field simulations to analyze electric field strength for medium-voltage insulation design.
- Professional Experience: Minimum 5–8 years of relevant industry experience. Candidates with proven successful development experience of medium-voltage (6kV/10kV/35kV) SST are highly preferred.
