Job Overview
The Business Development Manager - Industrial is responsible for driving sales and forging strong relationships with new and existing customers. This role involves developing strategies to increase revenue, training and motivating the sales team, and analyzing market trends to optimize sales performance. The role will be national with at least 50% travel, and we are open to any US location close to a major airport.
A Day In The Life
- Ownership role in identifying specification opportunities with targeting the Industrial MRO and Food & Beverage vertical market(s) working with Hubbell businesses to follow through to completion of getting on specification and optimizing relationships with targeted national accounts, including the facilitation and performance of technical presentations.
- Maintain and analyze specific National Contracts and Engineers/Specifiers Database and participate with sales management in setting sales strategy and goals.
- Responsible for maintaining the database for new products within the vertical and be project lead from phase 0 to completion, working with applicable business unit engineers and product managers.
- Serve as the Hubbell Vertical Market Expert and ensure Hubbell products keep up with industry‑specific specifications.
- Responsible for working with applicable Hubbell Brand Leaders to provide market forecasts, brand expansion, and cross‑selling opportunities nationally.
- Develop new product plans with the product manager within the applicable vertical market to support successful introductions.
What will help you thrive in this role?
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Marketing, or a related field.
- 4‑8 years of relevant experience (required); end‑user sales (preferred), industrial with a focus in steel, automotive manufacturing, and food processing industry, business development, or sales/marketing and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience (preferred).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
- Analytical skills to interpret sales performance and market data trends (required).
- MS Office proficiency.
- Must be self‑motivated, accountable, and able to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills needed to cultivate customer relations and work with team members of various levels and backgrounds.
- Possess excellent time‑management and organizational skills.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to create and deliver persuasive presentations.
