The Department of Women, Children and Adolescents is tasked with providing quality care tailored to the needs of women at every stage of their lives and addressing the health issues faced by newborns, children and adolescents from birth up to the age of 16. For many years, the Department of Women, Children and Adolescents has continuously developed cutting-edge services and centres of expertise in several medical specialties.
The mission of the gynaecology service is to ensure the care of women throughout their reproductive life and during menopause. It welcomes women and couples with maximum comfort and safety, respecting privacy and individual values.
The service consists of several units: gynaecology outpatient clinic, gynaecological-obstetric emergencies, reproductive medicine and gynaecological endocrinology, perineology, surgical onco-gynaecology and surgical senology.
Thanks to the emphasis on research, the service offers women the highest quality of care possible, in accordance with procedures established at both federal and international levels.
The Gynaecology Service at HUG has cutting-edge expertise in managing women suffering from gynaecological cancer. From the moment of diagnosis, the team establishes a personalised care pathway adapted to each situation, performs all examinations on site and offers all currently available treatment techniques for cancers. The medical team can also propose participation in a research protocol.
Made possible by advances in medical imaging, minimally invasive surgical techniques are used to diagnose or remove tumours.
Certain types of cancer and some cancer treatment techniques can impact the fertility of the patient. Medical techniques exist to preserve the possibility of having children after treatment.
