Commercial Project Controls Manager – BESS - Munich
About the Company
A growing German energy infrastructure business developing and delivering major projects across the country. The company is expanding its project controls capability to strengthen financial oversight, commercial reporting and cost management across a significant capital project.
The Opportunity
The company is seeking a commercially focused project controls professional to manage budgets, forecasts and cost reporting. You will work closely with project delivery, procurement and finance teams throughout the investment and execution phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide commercial analysis and reporting to project and senior management.
- Track commitments, expenditure and forecast costs against the approved budget.
- Review supplier invoices and support internal approval processes.
- Evaluate the financial impact of project changes, variations and additional works.
- Work with procurement and delivery teams to maintain accurate cost information.
- Prepare budget updates, variance explanations and forward-looking forecasts.
- Support commercial reviews of contracts, amendments and supplier agreements.
- Produce financial information for investment approvals and management decisions.
- Improve project cost-control methods, reporting tools and internal processes.
About You
- Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Controlling, Industrial Engineering or a related subject.
- Several years of commercial project management or project-controlling experience.
- Background in energy, construction, infrastructure or another capital-intensive sector.
- Strong knowledge of cost forecasting, capital expenditure and change control.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP or financial systems.
- Comfortable working between technical, commercial and accounting functions.
- Analytical, structured and proactive in identifying commercial risks.
- Fluent German and good English skills.
