Responsibilities Define and lead IATA’s net‑zero transition strategy, covering global fuel supply and net‑zero solutions, in conjunction with the Division’s SVP and colleagues. Produce authoritative research in related fields and advance practical solutions to the market. Work to safeguard airlines’ conventional and sustainable fuel supply at competitive prices. Be an ambassador for IATA across aviation’s net‑zero stakeholders, including media platforms, to raise the visibility of all aspects related to air transport’s decarbonization. Lead the bi‑annual IATA Aviation Energy Forum and drive consensus regarding industry priorities for environmental performance, efficiency, and safety. Lead the team in a cross‑functional manner, steer advocacy campaigns, produce and direct research efforts in these areas, develop and track relevant data, and stay on top of developments and new findings from academic and other relevant organizations. Identify needs for specific solutions to real‑life problems and bottlenecks in support of airlines’ decarbonization, ranging from technology ramp‑up to transition enablement. Work to influence and accelerate standardisation, harmonisation, and commercialisation. Identify opportunities or shortfalls in policy setting and propose best practices and corrective solutions. Identify financing challenges and solutions to help drive affordable transition solutions for air transport. Collaborate across stakeholders to generate buy‑in, including for joint initiatives and industry‑level action. Coordinate across IATA divisions on cross‑cutting issues such as airport operations and air traffic management, and the implementation of present and future net‑zero solutions. Provide subject‑matter leadership for the industry, enhance collaboration, and contribute to regional capacity building. Be a thought leader and provide coaching across teams and individuals. Qualifications Research mind‑set to drive new advances in fields related to decarbonising air transport, with experience in producing and drafting research reports to the highest standards. Substantial knowledge and experience in leading decarbonisation research and efforts at a senior level. Deep understanding of the airline industry, its regulatory frameworks, the energy system, and fuels. Preferably an understanding of energy economics and the financing of the transition. Excellent communications and public‑speaking skills in English. Additional languages are an advantage. Strong stakeholder management skills and established credibility within the sustainable aviation industry, with the ability to collaborate in a multi‑cultural environment across different geographic regions.
