Overview

In this role, you will shape IATA’s Airline Industry Data Model (AIDM) to enable consistent industry messaging standards. You will work within the Technology Standards and Data Modeling team to align data models across value streams and evolve the AIDM with industry vocabulary. Expect to translate complex business needs into scalable data models and contribute to enterprise data governance. This opportunity lets you influence data interoperability across aviation partners while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Verantwortungsbereiche

• Model business and data requirements and define data exchange specs for industry standards so amendments are interoperable within AIDM
• Design, develop, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models aligned to enterprise architecture and data strategy
• Translate requirements into OLTP, OLAP, and integration-oriented data models for scalable data platforms
• Define and enforce data modeling standards, including naming conventions, definitions, domain models, and data type governance
• Collaborate with industry and internal teams to design data flows, integration patterns, and target-state data architecture
• Support data engineering by troubleshooting model issues, optimizing schemas, and reverse-engineering models from relational and non-relational platforms
• Deliver training and consulting to industry members and colleagues on modeling tools, environments, guidelines, and methodologies
• Provide hands-on support to ensure adoption of data modeling and standards best practices

Zentrale Anforderungen

• University degree in Computer Sciences or related discipline
• 7+ years of experience in information management, data governance, and data modeling
• Experience in business process modeling (appreciated)
• Technical architecture experience for data exchange messaging and API solutions
• Strong expertise in conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling
• Experience applying data governance (data quality, stewardship, metadata management, controlled vocabularies)
• Hands-on experience with UML, BPMN 2.0, XML, JSON and API schema design
• Proficiency with EA-like enterprise architecture and data modeling tools (e.g., Sparx EA)
• Experience gathering and documenting requirements across stakeholders
• Excellent communication skills to explain data concepts to non-technical audiences
• Travel required: 10-15%
