Job Description
Senior HSSE (Health, Safety, Social and Environmental) EPC and O&M Manager will be responsible for the implementation and monitoring of HSSE programs and systems across ib vogt’s EPC and O&M business. The role provides leadership and coordination for the overall EPC and O&M HSSE management as well as for assigned projects in accordance with local HSE and ib vogt´s HSSE standards.
Your Job
- Supporting compliance with applicable Health, Safety, social, and environmental regulations and standards.
- Office based work in Berlin, and remote working in Germany.
- Developing, implementing, and managing HSSE programs.
- Managing HSSE consultants and advisors across projects in the EU, the UK, and other regions.
- Coordinating with the EPC and O&M management team, site management and project management teams, stakeholders, and the corporate ESG department.
- Performing site HSSE audits/inspections as required.
- International travel up to 30% of time.
- Recording, analysing, and reporting on HSSE metrics.
- Preparing and maintaining operational HSSE tools, templates, plans, etc., in coordination with the Head of EPC and O&M HSSE and the EPC and O&M management team.
- Assessing, managing contractors and subcontractors for HSSE qualification and compliance.
- Identifying local occupational health & safety, social, and environmental regulations and standards in countries with ib vogt EPC and O&M activities.
- Managing incident investigations and root cause analysis, ensuring corrective actions are followed up and completed.
- Assessing emergency preparedness at project sites.
- Managing PPE and supporting improvement as required.
- Ensuring that HSSE training programmes are in place.
- Acting as the point of escalation for local EPC and O&M HSSE issues.
- Coordinating the Occupational Risk Prevention Plan with activities in the photovoltaic plants during the EPC and O&M phases.
- Promoting and managing proposals for improvement in health, safety, and the environment.
- Reviewing work procedures and contracts, identifying needs, and creating and expanding HSSE processes.
- Managing and ensuring preventive activities in the EPC and O&M phase as far as reasonably practicable.
- Directly supporting the development of globally relevant HSSE software, documentation, and standards.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Health & Safety & Environmental roles.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Health & Safety Management/Leadership roles within construction and/or energy/utility projects. Experience in Germany, UK, Spain, Italy or the Netherlands is a plus.
- Knowledge of international construction HSE best practices.
- Technical background in electrical installations or construction preferred.
- Proficiency in teamwork, teambuilding, and conflict management.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Business proficiency in English (written and spoken) with very good communication skills. German or another language is a plus.
Required Training
- Professional degree in Health/Safety/Environment or a technical degree relevant to energy and/or construction and O&M industries.
- NEBOSH construction safety qualification or International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and/or SIFA/FASI/SiGeKo qualification.
- ISO certifications such as ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
