Your role and responsibilities  Your Role: System and Board Design Engineer We’re hiring development engineers (m/f/x) to join our System and Board Design team starting January 1, 2026. As part of the Electronic Packaging group, you’ll help design high-performance mainboards and PCB cards for IBM’s flagship platforms. Key Areas of Work Logic & Physical Design: Develop and layout complex digital and analog circuits. Signal Integrity: Modeling and simulation of high-frequency signals across boards and systems. Definition of design rules and materials. Power Integrity: Ensure stable power distribution and switching stability on complex boards Module Design: Create single and multi-chip modules for IBM processors. Automation: Improve workflows, tools, and measurement methods. Failure Analysis: Support hardware bring-up, prototype validation, and issue resolution. Ideally, you have: A Master’s or PhD in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or similar Knowledge of signal and power integrity, and circuit design (digital & analog) Familiarity with PCB technologies and materials Programming skills (preferably Python) Experience with PCB tools (e.g., Cadence, Synopsys, Mentor Graphics, Altium, Eagle) Strong self-motivation and team spirit Excellent English communication skills (German is a plus) About business unit IBM Systems helps IT leaders think differently about their infrastructure.
