Chief Research Scientist – Advanced Computer Architecture
We are partnering with a world‑class research organisation to recruit a Chief Research Scientist to help define the future of advanced computing architecture for AI and high‑performance systems.
This is a senior, hands‑on technical leadership role, focused on shaping next‑generation processor and system architectures, driving frontier research, and building long‑term technical strategy in areas such as AI accelerators, scalable compute platforms, advanced memory systems and high‑performance interconnects.
You will sit at the centre of a highly technical research environment, leading teams of senior researchers and working across hardware, software and systems to push architectural boundaries.
Responsibilities
- Define the long‑term technical direction for next‑generation compute architectures, with a strong focus on AI‑driven workloads.
- Lead research into advanced processor, accelerator and system‑level architectures.
- Drive design‑space exploration, performance modelling and large‑scale system simulation.
- Oversee development of internal tools for workload modelling, mapping and architectural analysis.
- Guide research into advanced packaging, memory hierarchies, interconnects, thermals, reliability and system resilience.
- Build and mentor high‑performing research teams.
- Drive novel research directions and ensure the group works on differentiated architectural concepts.
- Represent the organisation in the global research community through publications, patents, conferences and technical forums.
Required Background
- PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or similar field.
- Senior‑level experience in computer architecture, processor design, or HPC system development.
- Proven track record of leading research in either industry or academia.
- Strong publication history and/or internationally recognised patents.
- Deep technical knowledge of AI systems, large‑scale compute platforms and performance engineering.
Preferred Experience
- Background in microarchitecture design, SoC architecture or advanced hardware platforms.
- Experience with software–hardware co‑design and compiler or runtime systems.
- Exposure to advanced packaging, memory technologies and fabrication‑aware design.
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of architectural strategy in a globally respected research environment and influence the future of AI compute platforms.
If you’re interested in this role and have all the necessary experience, then apply now. Otherwise, if you’re looking for any other AI/ML and computer vision roles, then reach out to Oscar Harper at IC Resources.
