Reporting to the Director R&D, the RF Engineer plays a critical role in the development of RF systems through design, simulation, and optimization of RF/RFID antennas and small electronic circuits. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand system requirements, define layout specifications, and develop customized antenna solutions to meet the needs of our customers and projects. Your expertise in RF/RFID antenna design, simulation tools, and electromagnetic theory will contribute significantly to the success of our RFID products.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with RF engineers and project managers to understand system requirements and antenna performance targets.
- Design and simulate antenna structures and small electronic circuits using electromagnetic simulation software (e.g., CST Microwave Studio, HFSS, FEKO).
- Optimize antenna designs with respect to performance metrics such as gain, bandwidth, efficiency, and radiation pattern.
- Create prototypes and test antenna designs using laboratory equipment such as network analyzers and range measurement devices in our test chamber.
- Analyze test results and refine antenna prototypes to improve performance and meet project requirements.
- Design complete solutions around RFID tags and readers according to customer specifications.
- Contribute to the development of production processes for manufacturing our products and transfer solutions to operations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and advances in antenna design techniques and materials.
Requirements
- Bachelor\’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Antenna Engineering, or a related field; Master\’s degree or PhD preferred.
- Solid knowledge of electromagnetic theory, antenna fundamentals, and RF/microwave engineering principles.
- Proficiency in electromagnetic simulation software for antenna design and analysis.
- Experience with antenna measurement techniques and equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Creative thinking and a passion for advancing antenna technology.
- Good communication skills in English and German.
- Hybrid working model requiring presence at least 3 days per week in our Sauerlach office.
