Specialist Accountant General Ledger & Fixed Assets (m/f/d)
Berlin | Full-time | IFX Corporate Services GmbH - IFCO Group
Own your books - not just your postings. In our General Ledger & Fixed Assets team in Berlin, you take end-to-end responsibility for a set of IFCO entities, from the first journal entry to a clean, audit-ready close. And you help us build one standard way of accounting across the group.
About us
IFCO is the world market leader for reusable packaging containers (RPCs) for fresh food. Our RPCs make the food supply chain more sustainable: they improve food safety in transport, reduce food waste and need less packaging material, which lowers the carbon footprint. The future is circular.
IFX Corporate Services GmbH is IFCO's shared service company in Berlin, where an international team runs accounting for IFCO Group entities and drives the standardization of accounting processes across the group.
Your role
As Specialist Accountant, you independently manage an assigned responsibility area - one or several entities, or a defined accounting scope - end-to-end. You understand the business behind the numbers, act as a sparring partner for local Finance and are not afraid to question how things have always been done. Expect real operational accounting work: closing, reconciliations and analysis are the core of the job.
What you will do
Month-end and year-end closing - Own the close for your entities, including journal entries, accruals, provisions, prepaids and recurring postings
Fixed assets - Account for additions, disposals and depreciation
Intercompany and bank - Handle intercompany accounting and reconciliations, bank postings and VAT-related entries
Reconciliations and analysis - Prepare balance-sheet reconciliations, sanity checks and flux analyses - and explain what moved and why
Audit trail - Keep every posting audit-ready, with complete and reproducible backup in SAP
Sparring partner for local Finance - Challenge account assignments, accounting treatments and unnecessary local practices - constructively and with good arguments
Centralization - Spot tasks that belong in the Shared Service Center and drive their transfer
Continuous improvement - Find root causes, fix them sustainably and improve our processes and documentation
Audits and team support - Support audits and be the first point of contact for junior colleagues in your area
What you bring
Degree in business administration, finance or accounting, or an equivalent vocational accounting qualification
3+ years of experience in General Ledger accounting, including month-end and year-end closing
Sound practical IFRS knowledge and a good understanding of fixed asset accounting
Confident, independent use of SAP and strong Excel skills
Economic understanding and professional skepticism: you do not book what you do not understand
The ability to look beyond your own task and see how it affects other entities, processes and people
Clear, confident communication and the ability to disagree respectfully
Respect for different company and country cultures
Fluent English
Nice to have
Experience in an international or Shared Service Center environment
Experience with multiple company codes, intercompany relationships or centralization projects
