Field Service Engineer (Leipzig)

As a Field Service Engineer here at Illumina , you will partner with customers to install and maintain all hardware including customer troubleshooting and complaint resolution. This position serves as an engineering consultant during pre- and post-sales activities and will collaborate with the broader commercial team to maximize sales growth, support instrument uptime, and customer satisfaction.

It is essential to have a valid driving license within Germany with the flexibility to travel up to 80% across the region.

Fluent language skills in both English and German are also essential.

Why You

As a Field Service Engineer , you will have experience gained working within an engineering role, ideally within the scientific/medical sector; however, this is not essential as long as you have experience working with highly complex and technical equipment.

This role requires troubleshooting, communication, time management, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities:

• Applies core knowledge and understanding of area of specialization to provide solutions in creative and effective ways.

• Assesses unusual circumstances and uses sophisticated analytical and problem-solving techniques to identify cause and suggest variations in approach.

• Works on assignments of diverse scope where information is limited and problem-solving requires adaptation of existing techniques.

• Enhances internal and external working relationships and networks with senior partners within area of expertise.

• Adapts style to differing audiences and often advises others on difficult matters that require persuasion.

• Work is done independently and is reviewed at critical points.

• Uses evaluation, judgment, and interpretation to select the best course of action.

Experience/Education:

• Typically requires considerable related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or some related experience and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent work experience.
