The Euro-BioImaging Bio-Hub hosted by the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is seeking a highly motivated professional to coordinate the Euro-BioImaging Industry Board .

The Euro-BioImaging Industry Board (EBIB) is currently comprised of thirteen different companies across the imaging field. In the EBIB, all companies work together as a single, professional entity, setting their own goals to proactively drive the interaction between the imaging industry and European researchers, funders, and the imaging facilities linked with the European research infrastructure, Euro-BioImaging. In October 2019, the European Commission officially established Euro-BioImaging as a European Research Infrastructure Consortium (ERIC), providing life scientists with open access to a broad range of technologies and resources in biological and biomedical imaging.

Close relationships with Euro-BioImaging give EBIB member companies insight into current research trends and the usage of their imaging-related products, facilitating the organization of joint initiatives and common training and lobbying activities with the wider life science community at the European scale. Achieving this close interaction between industry and research communities boosts innovation, strengthens the position of companies, accelerates new developments to the market, and builds a foundation of sustainable industry interactions. To achieve its objectives, the EBIB is seeking an EBIB Coordinator to support all its activities and systematically strengthen and broaden the EBIB’s knowledge of imaging research while promoting two-way dialogue and collaboration with its stakeholders. The post holder will be based at the Euro-BioImaging Bio-Hub at EMBL, Heidelberg, but will engage across all companies and the whole research infrastructure.

Your role
The EBIB Coordinator will work in close collaboration with the EBIB Chair and members located across Europe, as well as with the Euro-BioImaging Hub Office. The post holder will report to the Director of Euro-BioImaging Bio-Hub at EMBL and the EBIB Chair. The responsibilities of the position include:

  • Proactively seeking opportunities for EBIB members to engage and collaborate with Euro-BioImaging Nodes, users, and national networks.
  • Representing the EBIB at international events in a professional and politically astute manner.
  • Strategically preparing and operationally managing EBIB-driven meetings and workshops to understand the needs of the imaging community.
  • Coordinating “One Voice” activities to the political community at national and European levels (European Commission, Brussels) to increase the imaging market.
  • Developing communication tools and activities to boost EBIB’s visibility, increase the number of industry members, and strengthen EBIB’s presence in the scientific and political landscape.
  • Keeping up-to-date with imaging-associated initiatives and providing EBIB with tailored insight into European research trends and culture changes.
  • Coordinating industry participation in Euro-BioImaging EU-wide training programs.
  • Coordinating, documenting, and reporting on EBIB activities, including regular online and physical meetings of the members, and monitoring EBIB’s financial records.

You have :
For this exciting position between industry and academic research, we are seeking a creative, motivated self-starter who is an excellent communicator and has the ability to confidently represent the EBIB amidst an international network of multiple stakeholders. The ideal candidate will act as an ambassador for the European industry involved in life science imaging, proactively creating a platform for industry-science cross collaboration. The ideal candidate should be ready to take ownership and responsibility for tasks and maintain a customer-focused, politically astute approach to their work.

You might also have experience in:
• Business development
• Technology Commercialisation
• Application and/or development of imaging technologies
• Science policy and/or EU relations

In your online application, you will be asked to include a cover letter, CV, and the contact details of 3 referees. Further information about the position can be obtained from Kelly Sheehan-Rooney ( ), current EBIB Coordinator; and Antje Keppler ( ), Interim Section Director Bio-Hub.

Interviews are planned for May 2020. The initial contract is for a period of two years.
