We believe reliability must be considered early and often by all teams. We are looking for a passionate Senior Engineer, Site Reliability to spearhead our reliability program across the organization and build a culture where reliability is embedded in our engineering DNA.
Responsibilities
Reliability & Observability Strategy
- Research, engineer and experiment with new observability tools.
- Design and implement a comprehensive reliability strategy aligned with business outcomes.
- Define and manage reliability targets (SLOs) that enable dataâdriven decision making.
- Guide the technical roadmap for reliability and observability across Scout24.
- Advocate for resilience as a core part of our product development cycle.
- Report key reliability KPIs and metrics to leadership.
Incident Management Leadership
- Own and continuously improve incident handling processes and automation.
- Foster a blameless culture of learning from incidents.
- Lead the definition and implementation of disaster recovery framework in the cloud.
Platform & Tooling Collaboration
- Partner with Platform teams to build observability and reliability tooling.
- Build relationships with product teams to solve pain points.
- Design and implement monitoring solutions for visibility into systems.
- Collaborate with vendors to develop business and technical relationships.
- Lead larger projects, guiding other engineers.
Cultural Transformation & Strategic Leadership
- Help teams understand their servicesâ reliability and how to improve.
- Provide technical leadership on reliability for engineers, managers and product managers.
- Raise awareness of financial and reputational risk from unreliable products.
- Mentor teams on operating resilient systems.
- Drive engineering initiatives across the organization, representing the reliability perspective.
- Foster crossâdepartmental collaboration to create a holistic approach.
- Keep PMs and engineering managers informed with technical details across projects.
- Set new standards of excellence and guide the platform forward.
What You Need To Succeed
- Significant experience in software engineering with scalable distributed systems (â8 years).
- Strong SRE background with deep understanding of SLIs, SLOs, error budgets and observability.
- Platform engineering/DevOps expertise and passion for monitoring distributed systems.
- Experience with incident management, postâincident analysis and organisational change.
- Experience using AI tools to drive problemâsolving while maintaining human oversight.
- Dataâdriven mindset that uses metrics to evaluate engineering decisions.
- Technical leadership experience including mentoring, pair programming and solution design.
- Ability to balance strategic vision with tactical implementation.
- Excellent communication skills across diverse stakeholders.
- Growth mindset and strong crossâfunctional collaboration abilities.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
