Overview

Shape the science. Build the partnerships. Advance hematology care.

Progress in hematology depends on people who ask important questions, and bring the expertise, relationships and determination to answer them.

At Incyte, we are looking for a medical leader who wants to help shape our next chapter in Germany. Someone who can translate complex science into a clear medical strategy, build trusted partnerships with the hematology community and turn unmet needs into meaningful scientific action.

As Associate Director, Therapeutic Area Medical Lead – Hematology, you will connect clinical development, Medical Affairs and our commercial organization, bringing an independent medical perspective to critical decisions. Your insight will help guide development priorities, prepare for launches and strengthen the evidence needed to support informed treatment decisions.

We are looking for a scientific leader, a builder and a trusted partner —someone ready to take ownership and move ideas forward.

Why this role matters

You will help define the questions we pursue, the partnerships we build and how we prepare to bring advances in hematology to patients in Germany.

Working closely with the Executive Medical Director and colleagues across functions, you will shape the national medical strategy with a deep understanding of the German treatment and reimbursement landscape. You will have the opportunity to influence decisions from development through launch, while maintaining the scientific rigour and integrity that underpin credible Medical Affairs leadership.

What you will shape

Medical strategy grounded in patient and scientific needs

  • Translate developments in hematology, emerging evidence and changes in treatment guidelines into clear priorities for the German medical plan.
  • Identify unmet needs, scientific questions and evidence gaps relevant to clinical practice and reimbursement in Germany, and develop strategies to address them.
  • Contribute to the national development program, connecting local insight with the company’s broader development strategy.
  • Define medical pre-launch and launch strategies with the Executive Medical Director, aligning across Medical Affairs, Commercial and Market Access.
  • Plan and manage resources within the annual Medical Affairs budget.

Scientific partnerships that move knowledge forward

  • Build and deepen trusted relationships with hematologists, investigators, medical societies and other key scientific stakeholders.
  • Lead high-quality medical and scientific exchanges, bringing curiosity, credibility and a strong understanding of the disease landscape.
  • Serve as a primary medical contact within your area of responsibility, including the initial assessment of investigator-initiated research proposals for scientific merit and strategic fit.
  • Support research collaborations and the timely communication and publication of findings from national investigator-initiated projects.

Evidence and communication that support informed decisions

  • Provide medical leadership and contribute scientific expertise to Market Access dossiers.
  • Guide the development of accurate, balanced and evidence-based medical materials, educational programs and scientific communications.
  • Shape advisory boards, educational symposia, investigator meetings and our presence at medical congresses.
  • Deliver compelling scientific presentations and support training for internal colleagues and external audiences.
  • Ensure medical activities meet applicable compliance, regulatory and legal requirements, with patient interests and scientific integrity at the centre.

What you will bring

You combine deep hematology expertise with the ability to build, influence and deliver. You are comfortable setting direction, navigating complexity and earning trust through the quality of your thinking and actions.

Your background includes:

  • An MD, PharmD or PhD in life sciences. Candidates with an MSc and substantial relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Extensive pharmaceutical industry experience and an established external network in hematology.
  • A track record of successful cross-functional pre-launch planning and launch execution in malignant hematology, myeloproliferative neoplasms or hemostasis.
  • Experience as an Information Officer under §74a of the German Medicines Act.
  • Experience planning and implementing early access programs and compassionate use requests in rare diseases or hematology.
  • A strong understanding of the German treatment and reimbursement landscape, including the ability to identify relevant evidence gaps and translate them into medical priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, including in complex discussions with regulatory authorities and in G-BA/AMNOG hearings.
  • Fluency in German and English, and willingness to travel up to 25% of working time.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Leadership experience and previous budget responsibility would be valuable assets.

The mindset we are looking for

You build with purpose. You turn scientific questions into clear plans, bring the right people together and take responsibility for execution.

You earn trust. You listen carefully, communicate with precision and develop relationships through scientific credibility and sound judgement.

You anticipate what comes next. You recognise emerging changes in treatment and evidence, and help the organization prepare.

You move ideas forward. You work independently, respond with urgency and remain adaptable in a changing environment. You welcome new approaches while holding a high standard for scientific quality.

Help shape the next chapter in hematology

If you want to bring your expertise, network and ambition to a role where you can influence medical strategy and build meaningful scientific partnerships, we would like to hear from you.

Bring your scientific judgement. Help define the questions that matter. Apply to join Incyte in Germany.
