Overview

The Medical Advisor Hematology/Oncology is a field-based scientific expert and strategic medical partner supporting the development and execution of the Austrian Medical Strategy and Medical Plan. The role translates scientific expertise and stakeholder insights into prioritized actions and measurable medical impact through evidence generation, launch readiness, omnichannel engagement, and cross-functional collaboration, while ensuring high-quality and compliant scientific exchange. Austria plays an important role as an early-launch and innovation market, and the Medical Advisor contributes to generating insights, implementation experience and best practices that can inform regional and global strategies. Key Responsibilities

1. Medical Strategy, Execution & Performance

Support the Senior Medical Director in developing, implementing, and evolving country Medical Plans aligned with regional/global priorities and local patient needs; translate strategy into prioritized tactics, deliverables, timelines, and outcome-focused KPIs. Contribute the medical perspective to brand/portfolio planning, lifecycle management, pre-launch/launch readiness, and cross-functional decision-making. Maintain current scientific, clinical, product, treatment-landscape, and competitor knowledge in hematology/oncology and provide product- or therapeutic-area-specific scientific training as required. 2. Coordinated Stakeholder Engagement, Insights & Scientific Leadership

Provide scientific leadership within cross-functional project teams and act as a trusted medical expert across the affiliate. Develop and execute structured stakeholder engagement plans, including mapping and prioritization of External Experts, scientific societies, investigators, HCPs, and other relevant stakeholders; build trusted long-term scientific relationships and conduct balanced, non-promotional scientific exchange. Systematically capture, document, analyze, and prioritize medical insights and translate them into actionable recommendations for affiliate, regional, and global teams. Provide scientific and educational presentations and represent Incyte at relevant congresses, and medical meetings; support scientific preparation of external experts/faculty for legitimate scientific activities. Act as a point of contact for unsolicited medical information requests related to Incyte’s portfolio and ensure appropriate follow-up. 3. Evidence Generation & Patient Access

Identify local evidence gaps and opportunities and support RWE, HEOR, Investigator-Initiated Research, and other data-generation activities aligned with evidence plans; support clinical-development activities through local scientific input, investigator/site engagement, feasibility, and collaboration with Clinical Operations. Contribute medical and scientific evidence to reimbursement and patient-access activities, applying a strong understanding of the Austrian healthcare, treatment-pathway, formulary, and reimbursement environment. Represent relevant Austrian clinical-practice and stakeholder insights in regional/global medical, development, pipeline, and lifecycle discussions. 4. Cross-Functional Collaboration, Launch Readiness & Digital Enablement

Partner closely with Commercial, Value & Access/Market Access, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, Compliance, Legal, Clinical Operations, and Regional/Global Medical Affairs while maintaining appropriate Medical Affairs independence; contribute to launch readiness by integrating stakeholder insights, patient journeys, treatment pathways, evidence needs, the competitive/scientific landscape, and local implementation considerations. Contribute to compliant omnichannel medical engagement by selecting and sequencing appropriate in-person and digital channels; use approved internal systems and AI-enabled tools to improve planning, efficiency, content utilization, and insight generation. Develop and adapt high-quality local scientific materials, including slide decks, Q&A documents, scientific narratives, communication plans, and digital content, aligned with approved evidence and local requirements. 5. Medical Governance, Compliance & Operational Excellence

Adhere to corporate SOPs and applicable legal, regulatory, ethical, pharmacovigilance, data-protection, and industry requirements governing interactions with HCPs and other stakeholders. Participate in medical review and approval of promotional and non-promotional materials according to local governance and assigned responsibilities; where formally appointed, fulfil applicable responsibilities of the Austrian Information Officer (Informationsbeauftragte/r). Ensure timely documentation of medical activities, interactions, insights, and follow-up actions and manage assigned projects within agreed scope, timelines, and budget, coordinating external vendors where applicable. Share best practices and contribute to a culture of scientific integrity, accountability, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Requirements

1. Education & Therapeutic Expertise

Advanced scientific or clinical degree required (e.g. MD, PhD, PharmD or equivalent; other relevant advanced degrees may be considered). Typically, 3-5 years of relevant hematology/oncology experience; Medical Affairs (e.g. Medical Advisor/MSL) or comparable scientific/clinical experience preferred. 2. Strategic, Cross-Functional & Execution Capability

Strong scientific and business acumen with the ability to translate data and medical insights into clear priorities, actions, and recommendations. Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional and international teams, including appropriate partnership with Commercial while preserving scientific integrity and Medical Affairs governance. High ownership, project-management discipline, flexibility, independence, and a solutions-oriented mindset; able to manage competing priorities and deliver against timelines and budgets. 3. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusted scientific relationships with external stakeholders; field experience and an existing HCP network are advantageous. Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills in German and English, with the ability to communicate complex scientific information clearly to different audiences. 4. Digital & Omnichannel Capabilities

Strong digital fluency and willingness to continuously develop digital capabilities; able to engage effectively across in-person and virtual channels and use digital applications, and AI-enabled tools to support an integrated omnichannel medical presence. 5. Local Market Knowledge & Mobility

Good understanding of Austrian legislation and industry standards governing pharmaceutical activities, together with knowledge of the Austrian healthcare and reimbursement system. Professional experience in an international environment is advantageous; willingness to travel regularly within Austria and occasionally internationally (up to approximately 50% field/travel time; occasional evenings or weekends may be required for congresses or meetings).
