Research Scientist Scholarship Opportunity in Hydroacoustics and Fisheries Biology

Designation: Research Scientist (m/f/d)

Research Area: Hydroacoustics, Fisheries Biology, Biological Oceanography, Physics, Computer Sciences

• A university degree (MSc or equivalent) in marine biology/ecology, physics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, bioinformatics, or related fields .
• Experience with advanced statistical methods and population dynamics modeling.
• Proficiency in programming skills (Python, R, Julia, C, Java, or similar) and experience in developing open-source software.
• Knowledge of hydroacoustic methods and data analysis is desirable.
• Previous sea-going experience is an advantage.

Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Participating in commercial and scientific seagoing voyages and collecting hydroacoustic and biological data.
• Applying and developing hydroacoustic methods for the detection and identification of saithe using open source and commercial software packages.
• Applying and developing statistical methods to estimate the abundance and biomass of saithe.
• Participating in and presenting results at relevant scientific working groups and conferences.
• Publishing results in scientific journals and other suitable media.
