Head of Procurement

Our client is a successful growing and innovation-driven manufacturer of high-quality pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements, based in Northern Germany.

As the company continues to expand, our client is seeking a hands-on and strategic Head of Procurement to lead the purchasing function and help scale responsibly and efficiently.

Your core responsibilities will include:

• Take full ownership of the procurement strategy and daily operations
• Lead and develop a small, dedicated procurement team
• Ensure the timely and cost-effective sourcing of raw materials, packaging, and services in compliance with pharmaceutical and food regulations
• Select and manage suppliers based on quality, reliability, and sustainability
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms to optimize value for the company
• Work closely with internal departments (R&D, Quality, Production, Logistics) to forecast needs and ensure alignment
• Monitor supplier performance and manage risks across the supply chain
• Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement processes and digital tools
• Stay up to date with market trends, innovations, and regulatory requirements relevant to sourcing

Candidate profile

• University degree or training in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a comparable field
• 5+ years of professional experience in procurement, ideally in pharmaceuticals, food, or healthcare industries
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
• Understanding of GMP requirements and regulatory standards in pharma or dietary supplements is a plus
• Experience with ERP systems and modern procurement tools
• Hands-on, pragmatic, and highly organized
• Excellent communication skills in German and English
• Team-oriented leadership style with a collaborative mindset
