In your new role you will:

  • Focus on methods to accurately estimate SoX of Lithium Ion Cells based on electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS)
  • Conduct a literature review on methods for SoX estimation using EIS
  • Familiarize with the basics of LIB monitoring (U/I/T) in automotive applications
  • Analyze measurement data in MATLAB or Python
  • Identify characteristic frequencies
  • Experimentally validate results
  • Compare and discuss the applied method with other approaches from the scientific literature
  • Document results by writing and submitting a master’s thesis


This thesis has to be written in cooperation with an university.

Type of employment: Temporary / Part-time or Full-time (flexible working hours from Monday to Friday between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.)
Duration: max. 6 to 12 months

You successfully meet the requirements, if you are a motivated and committed student from the field of Electronics, Mathematics, Physics or similar. You are best equipped for this task if you additionally offer:

  • Strong interest and motivation in cutting-edge research on lithium-ion cells for battery electric vehicles
  • First experience with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in the context of lithium-ion cells
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Know-how in PCB Circuit design, is preferable
  • Proven experience in MATLAB and/or Python, is advantageous
  • Fluency in written and spoken English, German is a plus

This position is subject to the collective agreement for workers and employees in the electrical and electronics industry (full-time), employment group D for master students (https://www.feei.at/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/minimum-salaries-white-collar-workers-2024.pdf.
