International VAT Expert (m/f/d)

International VAT Expert (m/f/d)
Location: Munich, Germany or Rotkreuz, Switzerland | Hybrid working model with up to two days of remote work per week
Roles & Responsibilities
- Build and establish a centralized VAT function within the group as the first dedicated point of contact for all VAT-related matters
- Ensure and continuously improve VAT compliance across the EU by reviewing and validating periodic VAT returns and EC Sales Lists (ESL) in close collaboration with local finance teams
- Oversee import VAT processes within Europe, including the assessment and correct treatment of cross-border transactions
- Analyze, assess, and further develop the VAT treatment of complex supply chain structures
- Act as a business partner for internal stakeholders across Sales, Supply Chain, and Accounting regarding VAT implications of existing and new business models
- Support the implementation of e-invoicing requirements and monitor ongoing regulatory developments at EU level
- Contribute to the enhancement of VAT-related processes and systems
- Support and coordinate VAT audits and act as a key contact for internal and external stakeholders
- Identify and implement measures to reduce VAT risks, improve processes, and increase efficiency
Requirements
- Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Law, or a comparable qualification
- Extensive professional experience in VAT, ideally combining experience from consulting and in-house roles
- Strong knowledge of European VAT law, particularly regarding cross-border transactions, supply chains, and services
- Experience in reviewing and assessing VAT compliance processes in an international environment
- Familiarity with common ERP systems and interest in developing tax-related systems and processes
- Experience in supporting tax audits is a plus
- Strong analytical skills, a structured approach to work, and a hands-on mentality
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and international teams
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex VAT matters in a clear and practical way
- Fluent in German and English
