Overview
As a Senior SAP MDG Architect, you design, govern, and deliver end-to-end MDG solutions in S/4HANA environments. You will define the MDG architecture, steer data governance, and build scalable workflows across domains like Business Partner, Materials, and Finance. You collaborate with business, data owners, and technical teams to establish a robust master data foundation for enterprise transformation. The role offers impact across architecture, governance, and integration in a global digital agenda.
Verantwortungsbereiche
- Lead end-to-end SAP MDG architecture design across S/4HANA and integrations, including fit-gap workshops and blueprinting
- Steer the MDG workstream through SAP Activate phases (Discover, Prepare, Explore, Realize, Deploy, Run)
- Define data models, governance processes, workflows, rules, and validation frameworks
- Architect MDG solutions for domains such as Business Partner, Customer, Vendor, Product/Material, Finance, and Custom Objects
- Recommend MDG best practices and define extensions as needed
- Configure data models/UI (FPM), process models/workflow, data replication (SOA, IDocs, ALE), BRF+ rules, validations, and duplicate checks
- Lead consolidation, central governance, and mass processing designs
- Define integration architecture between MDG and S/4HANA, ECC, MDM/CRM/SRM/PLM, and external systems
- Collaborate with middleware teams (PI/PO, CPI) for replication frameworks
- Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, data strategy, and security models
- Develop enterprise MD governance framework and policies; define standards, ownership, stewardship, and approvals
- Drive data quality rules, dashboards, and exception handling
- Oversee specs, test planning, UAT, cutover, migration validation, and hypercare
- Coordinate across technical/functional/business teams for on-time delivery; engage business data owners and IT leadership
- Provide thought leadership on MDG roadmap, data standards, and transformation strategy
- Conduct training for business stewards and functional teams; support migration strategy and data readiness
- Coordinate with ETL/migration teams for seamless cutover

- Strong hands-on experience with SAP MDG on S/4HANA (hub or co-deployed)
- 2+ full-cycle MDG or S/4 implementations
- Deep knowledge of data models & governance framework, process modelling & workflow, BRF+, BAdIs, FPM, UI modelling
- Data replication frameworks (SOA, IDoc, ALE)
- MDG consolidation & mass processing
- MDG for Customer/Vendor BP, Material Master, FICO master data; Web Dynpro/FPM concepts; OData, APIs, Fiori
- Ability to guide ABAP developers on custom logic, enhancements, WRICEF objects
- Experience in Agile/Hybrid methodologies
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving; ability to lead cross-functional workshops
- S/4HANA Certification or SAP MDG Certification (Good to Have)
- Experience in industries with complex master data environments (Retail, Automotive, Manufacturing, CPG, Pharma, Utilities)
