Research Assistant for Production and Logistics

The IAB – Institute for Applied Construction Research Weimar is an innovative and successful business-oriented research institute focusing on the development of new equipment, processes, and materials for the construction industry. With over 100 employees, we have been supporting our partners and customers with practical research and development as well as application-oriented services for 30 years.

We are looking for a research assistant specialising in production and logistics for our Production and Measuring Systems department in the Process Technology research area to take a holistic view of concrete product manufacturing as soon as possible.

Responsibilities

1. Planning, implementation, and documentation of research and development projects in the field of mechanical engineering, concrete product manufacturing, and plant and process engineering.
2. Coordination and management of these projects together with partners from industry, business, and research.
3. Planning, construction, and commissioning of test rigs and supervision of test campaigns.
4. System planning, process analysis, and optimisation.
5. Attending and supporting trade fairs and conferences.

Minimum Requirements

1. Degree in industrial engineering or mechanical engineering with a focus on material flow, production technology, process automation, process engineering, or a comparable technical qualification.
2. Industry knowledge in the production of concrete products desirable.
3. Basic knowledge of statistics and Six Sigma.
4. Experience in working with CAD programmes (e.g., Autodesk Inventor) is an advantage.
5. Experience in project management.
6. Independent, autonomous, and structured way of working.
7. Communication and teamwork skills.
8. Good written and spoken German (level B2) and English (level B1).
9. Class B driving licence.
