Overview
As Head of Process Engineering, you lead the Process department within IPS, guiding chemical/biochemical and process safety engineering across Europe.
You drive delivery quality, mentorship, and strategic initiatives while collaborating with clients and cross-functional teams.
You will shape project execution, resource planning, and continuous improvement to support growth and high-quality project outcomes.

- Verantwortungsbereiche
- Coordinate with project managers and discipline leads to define scope, cost, complexity, and scheduling requirements
- Develop project execution plans with budgets, milestones, and resource plans to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery
- Assign skilled personnel for cost-effective engineering support
- Define cost-efficient workflow and design detail levels to meet goals
- Estimate work hours for deliverables and support design teams
- Support clients with strategic evaluations and engineering studies for facility expansion or automation
- Oversee design deliverables (PFDs, M&EBalances, P&IDs, control strategies, equipment specs, process safety assessments, automation specs)
- Utilize design tools including process simulation, fluid flow, process safety, smart P&IDs, and 3D modelling (Auto CAD, Plant 3D, Super Pro, PEL, Pipeflow, PHA-PRO)
- Maintain client and IPS team relationships; ensure quality, compliance, timeliness and guidance
- Create and execute a process department development plan aligned with company goals
- Perform HR functions for recruitment, appraisal, and development
- Plan and allocate work for discipline, ensuring manpower and spaces meet needs
- Interface with multi-office teams for resource sharing and standardized practices
- Lead training to build technical competence and leadership within the Process Discipline
- Determine skills, resources, and budget requirements; develop policies and standards
- Assist in global, regional, and inter-departmental policy development and standardization
- Monitor productivity and quality metrics; contribute to business development and client proposals
- Mentor junior staff and engineers pursuing chartership; ensure ongoing staff development
- Manage team utilization within budget targets; ensure compliance with IPS/client procedures
- Oversee compliance with local, international, and client codes and standards
- Engage in special projects as assigned
- Zentrale Anforderungen
- Minimum of 10 years’ process design and operations experience in pharmaceutical facilities (biologics, vaccines, API, OSD, parenteral, CGT)
- Competency in c GMP regulations
- Degree in a related discipline or equivalent experience; Chartered Engineer status preferred
- Proven administrative and leadership ability in multi-disciplinary teams
- Analytical thinking, structured problem solving, team-building, strong work ethic
- Ability to work flexibly in a growing team focused on growth and delivering high-quality projects
- Strong ethical focus on safety, quality, and environmental protection
- Experience in technical leadership and mentoring
