Overview
As a Senior Electrical Designer at IPS in Frankfurt, you will lead and contribute to electrical design across technically complex life sciences facilities. You’ll work within a multidisciplinary team, from concept through construction, coordinating with clients and vendors to ensure compliant, high-quality documentation. You’ll balance independent project work with mentoring junior designers and applying company design standards to deliver reliable, scalable solutions. This role offers impact by shaping designs on varied projects while advancing IPS’s end-to-end delivery mindset.
Verantwortungsbereiche
- Assist Project Lead with design computations, quantity estimates, and probable construction costs
- Lead smaller projects within the business unit when appropriate
- Promote and implement company design and production standards
- Prepare reports, specifications, plans, and support construction efforts
- Assess project requirements, define scope with Project Manager, and allocate resources
- Develop sketches, drawings, and construction documents using CAD tools
- Review drawings for standard compliance and effectiveness
- Select equipment and populate equipment schedules
- Create original drawings and produce markups for integration by the design team
- Research design options and document findings for the Project Lead
- Maintain transparent communication on workload and scope changes with Project Lead/Manager
- Research code issues and liaise with code officials and other disciplines
- Present technical information clearly to audiences
- Ensure adherence to quality, production, and design standards
- Mentor and guide junior Designers and Engineers on project execution
- Perform design calculations (service sizing, short circuit, voltage drop, heat derating, ground conductor sizing, connected/demand load)
- Create specialized drawings (operations matrices, elevations, details)
- Support additional tasks or special projects as assigned
Zentrale Anforderungen
- 8+ years in building design (lighting, fire alarm, power distribution, etc.)
- Fluent in German (spoken and written) or professional proficiency for onsite communication
- Technical or Associate Degree in design
- Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks
- Proven ability to manage projects, solve problems, and communicate with stakeholders
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Solid time management with ability to juggle multiple projects
- Thorough knowledge of system design and applicable codes
