Technical Lead (Research Reactor Capacity Building) – P5 As a member of a team led by the Section Head, the Technical Lead manages project activities devoted to assisting IAEA Member States in planning and building new research reactors (RRs) and in assessing and developing their national infrastructure. He also coordinates technical reports and provides technical assistance related to RR operation and fuel cycle as needed.
Responsibilities
Arrange and conduct consultants' meetings, technical meetings, conferences, symposia, workshops and other scientific meetings related to planning and building new RRs.
Organise and conduct peer‑review missions on development of nuclear infrastructure for RR projects in Member States.
Prepare technical documents and reports on planning and building new RRs, including national infrastructure and capacity building.
Provide technical assistance to Member States through IAEA Technical Cooperation projects related to new RRs.
Liaise with Permanent Missions, organisations in Member States and NGOs on planning, funding and implementation of operational projects related to new RRs.
Collaborate with members of the Section, Division, other Divisions, international organisations and Member States in areas of mutual interest.
Qualifications & Experience
Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Nuclear Physics or an equivalent technical field (or bachelor’s degree with two years of additional relevant experience).
At least 10 years of working experience in the subject area, including at least 2 years at international level, particularly in new RR projects, RR supporting infrastructure assessment and development, and nuclear capacity building using RRs.
Experience in RR utilisation and strategic planning, RR operation and maintenance, RR modernisation and refurbishment, RR fuel technology is an asset.
Excellent oral and written command of English; knowledge of other IAEA official languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) is an asset.
