The International School of Lausanne (ISL) is a leading not-for-profit, International Baccalaureate (IB) World School set in the French speaking part of Switzerland. Primary School Teacher of STEM (100%)

A renewable two-year contract from 1 January or 1 August 2026

Our dynamic and forward-thinking school is looking for a dedicated Primary Teacher of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to further develop a culture of innovation and exploration among our students.

We believe that STEM education is more than just a subject it is a way of thinking, problem-solving, and discovering the world. We are committed to providing both curricular and extra-curricular opportunities that empower young learners to experiment, create, and push the boundaries of their imagination. From hands-on classroom projects to coding clubs, robotics competitions, and science fairs, the Primary Teacher of STEM will have the freedom to design engaging learning experiences that inspire a lifelong love for STEM. The right candidate will be able to play a crucial role in developing inquisitive, resilient, and future-ready students.

The Teacher of STEM reports to the Primary School Principal but will also work alongside our school-wide Teacher of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Main responsibilities:

1. Teaching & Curriculum Development

• Collaborate with classroom teachers to deliver engaging, hands-on STEM lessons that foster curiosity and critical thinking.
• Help to integrate technology, coding, robotics, and engineering concepts into the PYP curriculum and classroom activities.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

2. Innovation & Exploration

• Help to create a school environment that encourages experimentation, problem-solving, and innovation.
• Design and implement STEM-based projects, experiments, and challenges.
• Encourage students to develop a growth mindset and resilience in tackling complex problems.

3. Extra-Curricular Programmes

• Lead and coordinate STEM clubs, coding workshops, robotics teams, or science fairs.
• Organise field trips, guest speaker sessions, or special STEM events.

4. Collaboration & Professional Development

• Work closely with other teachers to integrate STEM into different subjects.
• Stay updated with the latest STEM teaching methods and technologies.
• Work closely with the Teacher of Innovation and Entrepreneurship to develop the activities of our Impact Hub
• Engage with parents and the wider school community to promote STEM learning.

Desired profile:

• Bachelor s degree in Education, STEM-related subject (, Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science), or a relevant teaching qualification.
• Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent certification.
• Experience teaching STEM subjects at the primary level, with a strong understanding of child-centered learning approaches.
• Knowledge of best practices in STEM education.
• Knowledge of the IB PYP would be an advantage.
• Experience integrating technology, coding, and hands-on experiments into lessons.
• A passion for hands-on, inquiry-based learning that encourages curiosity and creativity.
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage young learners.
• Ability to develop STEM-related extracurricular programs, such as coding clubs, robotics teams, or science fairs.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community.
• A working knowledge of French would be an advantage.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on new teaching methods, technologies, and innovations in STEM education.
