Overview

As Chief of the ITU Oversight Unit, you lead independent audits, investigations and evaluations to improve governance, risk management and efficiency. You will shape the strategic oversight program, ensuring adherence to international standards and providing assurance to the Secretary-General and member states. You will oversee diverse teams, manage resources, and engage with UN system partners to promote integrity and value across ITU. This role offers a chance to influence ITU’s operations at the highest level and advance a culture of accountability.

Verantwortungsbereiche

• Provide strategic vision and leadership for the Oversight Unit, implementing medium- and long-term strategies
• Ensure compliance with internal auditing, investigations and evaluation standards
• Offer independent assurance and reporting to senior stakeholders to improve ITU operations
• Lead audits, investigations and evaluations, including complex or sensitive cases
• Prepare and execute a yearly oversight plan based on risk
• Develop a quality assurance/improvement programme for OU work
• Review ITU internal controls, structures, systems, and processes
• Direct OU work, manage resources, and ensure performance controls
• Consult with IMAC on policies, strategies, and progress reporting
• Represent ITU at high-level UN/system and international meetings
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Zentrale Anforderungen

• Advanced degree or equivalent in relevant fields and professional certification(s) (CIA, CFE, CPM, CISA or equivalent)
• At least 15 years of progressively responsible experience in audit, investigations, evaluations, governance, or risk management
• Minimum seven years at international level with senior management and policy-making experience
• Strong leadership and staff supervision capabilities
• Knowledge of United Nations system policies desirable
• Languages: advanced level in at least one official language and intermediate in a second; knowledge of a third is an advantage
