The Berlin University of the Arts (UdK Berlin) is one of the largest and most diverse art universities in Europe, where artistic teaching and practice intersect with academic discourse to shape its distinctive profile. UdK Berlin unites a broad spectrum of study programmes in Fine Arts, Design, Music, Performing Arts, and the academic disciplines related to these fields. Its profile is complemented by the Inter-University Centre for Dance Berlin and the Jazz Institute Berlin. The UdK Berlin, College of Performing Arts – Study program Acting – is seeking to appoint a: Professor at a university of arts (m/f/d) – Salary group W 2 LBesG (basic salary €7,387.68 plus additional allowances according to §3 LBesG ICW §33 BBesG transitional version Berlin) – Permanent full-time professorship.

Field of teaching: Acting and Performing

Teaching obligation: 18 course hours (LVS)

Start of service of the professorship: 1 October 2027

Duties the open position offers: basic scenic instruction, understood as basic training in acting expression, conceptualization of different acting styles, teaching the ability to work autonomously in the fields of improvisation, structure and reproduction role and scene studies as well as partner work in basic and advanced studies instruction for performing on camera/camera acting project work in basic and advanced studies.

Employment requirement in accordance with § 100 of Berlin Act on Higher Education (BerlHG): a completed university degree (master‘s or equivalent) in acting and/or directing teaching aptitude, demonstrated through several years of teaching experience a special aptitude for artistic work other artistic achievements.

Other requirements: an outstanding artist with several years of successful professional experience in acting and/or directing in the performing arts comprehensive, methodically diverse, several years of experience in contemporary acting training the ability to impart methodological principles in practice active participation in the innovative further development of the acting course presentation of a written teaching concept with perspectives for training in basic, role and scene studies knowledge in German at CEFR C2 level, both written and spoken.

In the event of an appointment, applicants undertake to be continuously involved in the self-administration of the university and to actively participate in committee work.
