Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) / Professor of Energy Technology
Position within the Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering (D-MAVT; www.mavt.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich. Research Focus
Contribute to D-MAVT’s global reputation by performing original and relevant research in the field of energy conversion and storage across scales. The new professor will establish an experimental program focused on scalable technologies to convert and/or store energy. Successful candidates should be able to translate fundamental advances into cost-efficient and sustainable technologies at a global scale, demonstrating the capacity to evolve their research activities over the course of their career supported by a solid foundation in fundamental principles of mechanical and process engineering. Potential areas include, but are not limited to: synthetic fuels, CO 2
capture and conversion, power‑to‑X technologies, and renewable energy systems. Candidate Profile
Hold a PhD or equivalent in engineering or a related field. Demonstrate an outstanding international track record of accomplishments in the fields outlined above, either in academia or industry. Depending on the level of appointment, the candidate is expected to teach master’s-level courses related to energy conversion and storage, as well as undergraduate-level courses in mechanical and process engineering fundamentals, such as thermodynamics. Teaching at ETH Zurich is conducted in German or English at the undergraduate level and in English at the graduate level. The ability to build and lead a successful research group is expected.
