Role: Senior Manager, Debt Advisory
As a Senior Manager in our Debt Advisory team, you will collaborate with experienced colleagues who bring deep expertise and long‑standing relationships with a diverse pool of funding partners. Our team provides pragmatic, independent advice to companies at every stage of their fundraising journey. This client‑facing position requires expertise on large and mid‑sized complex debt restructurings. Clients may include institutional investors, distressed debt hedge funds, Leveraged Finance banks and CLOs, private equity sponsors and additional key stakeholders involved in transactions.
Responsibilities
- Lead Debt Advisory engagements and work streams from inception to completion, ensuring the successful execution of transactions;
- Work for clients including Private Equity Funds and German Mittelstand companies, handling structured & acquisition financing, leveraged buy‑outs, recapitalisation projects (good & bad book), and creation of financing strategies & credit facilities;
- Utilise debt products including Acquisition Financing, Re‑capitalisations, Unitranche funding, bonds, special situations debt, DCM, private placements, investment grade, leveraged and structured finance, traditional bank financing and debt capital markets (public & private);
- Review term sheets and debt documents, create and analyse complex financial models, and assess the impact on client cash flows and strategic ambitions;
- Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify trends, opportunities and risks, providing insights to clients to inform their decisions;
- Create and present compelling pitch materials, investment memoranda and financial models to support client engagements and business development efforts;
- Guide junior team members and provide support to foster their professional development and enhance team performance.
Qualifications
- Strong academic background and significant experience in a Debt Advisory team at a leading consultancy, accountancy or boutique capital advisory firm or a bank;
- Extensive experience in Debt Advisory, with a strong focus on capital advisory services and transaction execution;
- Knowledge of a variety of debt instruments (bonds, loans, senior/junior/mezzanine, secured/unsecured) combined with an understanding of the European debt market is desirable;
- Highly developed analytical skills with the ability to think strategically & find solutions to complex problems;
- Well‑developed modelling capabilities with extensive experience in LBO cash‑flow modelling, financial covenant stress testing, forecasting cash flows and debt;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and confident, impactful presentation abilities;
- Native or business‑fluent German & English (C1) is essential; additional European languages are highly desirable;
- Professional ability to engage effectively with clients in high‑pressure situations;
- Flexibility to travel when required for client engagements;
- Well networked with a highly respected reputation for project delivery across the Private Equity and Corporate community.
